Round of Applause
I want you to stop what you are doing right now and repeat this affirmation, I AM DOPE! How long has it been since you have celebrated how far you’ve come and all that you have accomplished? It is time for you to stop in this moment and give yourself a round of applause. It’s time for you to be grateful for surviving and making it to this moment.
I think this is one of the things that has kept me going over the years is being able to reflect upon my journey. Yes, there are moments I don’t want to repeat but I am truly grateful for the lows and the triumphs because they helped me become the woman I am today. Just for the day, instead of finding all of the things that you think you need to work on or fix, stop and celebrate your wins. Our society is always focused on what’s next, how we can do it bigger, and it leads us to feel like we haven’t really accomplished anything. This then leads to feelings of emptiness because no matter how far you go, you never feel successful or like you’ve done enough. The truth is your worth is not tied to how much you have accomplished anyway. You were born worthy, remember that.
One of the things I have realized about Beyonce’(my bff in my head) is that she languishes in her wins. She never rushes to the next thing. It’s like she soaks it all in, processes it, rest and then she moves on to the next. We can learn so much from her. Instead of you moving to the next thing, take the time to process what has happened, give yourself a pat on the back and then move forward. I promise the world will benefit from a more intentional you than a you that just puts things out there to remain relevant. Pausing, reflecting and resting are essential. We can have continuous wins with rest in between. I’ve learned on my journey that timing is everything and I have said this over and over again but we have to be in tune with the rhythm of our lives. Moving too fast or too slow can be detrimental. Remember, you don’t always have to be on. So just for today breath, release the tension and repeat after me one more time…I AM DOPE!
With Love,
Cree
